Muse Hassan
Muse Hassan is an accomplished Market Systems Development expert with over ten years of experience in private sector development, inclusive market systems, and financial sector leadership. He has a strong track record of strengthening economic systems, designing market-led interventions, and expanding opportunities for women, youth, and underserved communities. His work spans collaboration with government institutions, private sector actors, and development partners, all aimed at fostering sustainable, inclusive economic growth.
Muse previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Himilo Microfinance Institution, where he provided strategic direction, enhanced institutional systems, ensured regulatory compliance, and promoted long-term financial sustainability. He has also served as a Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Commerce, Infrastructure, and Public Works in Puntland, contributing to legislative processes and advancing sector-focused policies. His earlier roles include Marketing & Strategy Specialist at Amal Bank and Microfinance Project Officer with the American Refugee Committee, where he worked to expand financial outreach, promote financial literacy, and empower women and low-income entrepreneurs.
Beyond his operational and policy leadership, Muse has held an academic leadership role as Dean of the Faculty of Education at East Africa University. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and is completing a Certified Expert in Islamic Microfinance program at the Frankfurt School of Finance. Known for his strengths in strategic planning, market analysis, negotiation, and problem-solving, he continues to support sustainable development through advisory engagements and capacity-building initiatives.
