Himilo Microfinance Institution Launches Empowering Agricultural Initiative in Collaboration with Salaam Development Center

Garowe, Nugaal Region — Himilo Microfinance Institution (MFI), in partnership with the Salaam Development Center (SDC), has announced a transformative group investment initiative targeting agricultural projects in the Garowe District.

The Rabaable group is one of the beneficiaries of this program. Himilo MFI and the Rabaable group are discussing the needs and challenges faced by women in the agricultural business, particularly in the Rabaable area. This program aims to empower women by providing enhanced financial access and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The initiative is part of the Credit Guarantee Facility for Agricultural Loans Program under the Multilateral Fund Project. Its primary goal is to provide vulnerable female farmers in the Nugaal region with tailored financial products to support their micro-enterprises. By forming small women’s groups, the program seeks to foster financial autonomy, group solidarity, and economic resilience among participants.

The collaboration will not only enhance agricultural productivity but also contribute to poverty reduction and community empowerment in the region. Himilo MFI and SDC are committed to equipping women with the necessary resources to transform their livelihoods, building a pathway toward sustainable development in the Garowe District.

This initiative underscores the vital role of financial inclusion in addressing systemic challenges faced by vulnerable communities, particularly women, in rural areas.
